Somerset, situated on the northeastern edge of Lake Cumberland, is the county seat of Pulaski County. Somerset is 76 miles south of Lexington, Kentucky; 129 miles northwest of Knoxville, Tennessee; and 128 miles southeast of Louisville, Kentucky.

AIR: The Somerset-Pulaski County Airport, 2 miles south of Somerset, maintains a 5,000 foot paved runway. The nearest scheduled commercial airline service is available at Bluegrass Airport near Lexington, Kentucky, 76 miles north of Somerset.

RAIL: Mail line rail service is provided to Somerset by the Norfolk Southern System, whose services include main line, one northbound and one southbound freights which stop daily, 30 through freights daily, switching facilities, team track space for 14 cars and ample siding space.

HIGHWAYS: Major highways serving Somerset are U.S. Highway 27, the Cumberland Parkway, and Kentucky Routes 80 and 461.
